• Marty explains that he came back to 1955 in regards to recovering the sports almanac from Biff to save the future. Marty then explains that afterwards, the 1985 Doc was in the DeLorean when it got struck by lightning, which sent him back to 1885.
• Its significance lies in it being the date that Doc came up with the concept for the flux capacitor – the device which enables time travel. After managing to convince Doc Brown he is from the future, the two create a plan to send Marty back to 1985.
• If he would have stayed in 1955 after the event s happening in the movie anything could have happened…or nothing at all. According to the theorie of time travel used in the movie it all comes down on how much interaction there is between Marty and 1955. He grew up in the 80’s and all is knowledge is from that era.
